Report:
The location was one that we have not visited many times before – maybe about four times previously. It was situated (for those who know the area) just off the Camino de Coin on the level section off to the right the right going uphill. It was a good location at the bottom of the valley with the Kestral restaurant above us.
Two hashers, Bad Weasel and Salmonella Rushdi, were half an hour late, but made good time and rapidly caught up with the group.
The hash set off along the river bed and from there went up, and up, and up. Indeed there seemed altogether to be more up than down ... a demanding route for sure! But it was a Queen of trails route so there was no surprise there!
After the first Beer Sop there was an option to do what was described to us as a loop and most hashers took this course. It seemed to go on a long way and by the time we arrived at the second BS, many of thought we had done the Macho trail ... only to discover that that was coming up next!
For the few who did it, it was a real macho trail. Physically demanding, but very well laid. Yours truly lost the flower close to the end and came in late after a long detour. I was closely followed (though on a different route) by Salmonella and finally by Dogface, who finally came in on what was probably the true trail.
The circle followed and our three virgins were tested on their knowledge of hash names. They all seemed to have enjoyed themselves and we hope to see them again in the future. Our excellent RA did his stuff, which included naming Dog Face’s brother, who became “I have No Name.”
Then it was up the hill to the restraint for a very good meal, though with rather slow service. Nevertherless, it was a good hash and a great day out!
