Hares – SAARS and Super Pooper
Location – Banos De Hedionda, Manilva
The day did not start well. Remarkably for the 23 May there was an absolutely torrential downpour for a solid two hours throughout the morning … at least here in the Mijas/Fuengirola area. So we set off on the hour's journey to Manilva under dark clouds and expecting more rain. But what a surprise, as we progressed, the weather became warmer, the clouds cleared and suddenly were in hot sunshine. It was the most remarkable turnaround in the waether that I have ever experienced here in southern Spain.
The hares had found a good spot for the circle, so … formalities over, we set off.
The route was good and varied, though there were areas where the marking was not perfect. One area that elicted some very unlady like swearing was a very steep downward trail that was loose under foort and very jungle like. This culminated in assault course-like scrabble below a low fence. This lead down to the Beer Stop.
Most of my time spent there involved pulling the needle like grass seeds from my socks … but the beer was much appreciated.
As we rejoined the trail the hares had organised a super ball breaker macho trial that involed holding onto chains set in the rocks, but they chickened out of it ...perhaps because of some of the wimpy complaints about the first half. That is one for the next time hares!
However the trail that we followed did not disappoint. It followed the edge of a deep gorge with some great views to the bottom.
We eventually all arrived at the second circle area by the baths, a different area than the first circle. There was quite a long period of relaxation here before a short circle.
Thereafter the hares ordered in food that we had pre-booked and we settled down to a most delightful picnic, seated on the tables by the baths. Some great crack and a free flow of wine ensued, much to everyones' pleasure. It developed into a most enjoyable evening, and gave us a reminder of just how much fun picnics can be.
