Run Report  16 January 22

 Run number – 1784  The MEMORIAL RUN

 Hares – Shagadelic and Nikki Bitch

 Location- The house of Nikki on the Rio Grande

 Runners – 28

 Virgins – none

 Run Score – 9.1

Well …. this was not an auspicious start, since the Google pin took us to the village of Cerralba which was about 4k away from the actual run start, which after a few phone calls, we eventually found was at the house of  Nikki Bitch!!!

So, starting late, the Memorial Circle began by remembering those who had gone before us … an ever increasing number. The individuals on the photo board were all mentioned by name and a shortened minute's silence was held.

 The run then began. There wasn't an overly great amount of flour and the pack needed several promtings from the hares who were following in a car. The whole of the route proved to be virgin territory.

 We crossed the river over a bridge and THE ROUTE opened out into glorious campo, largely travelling down one side of the river … crossing over, and returning up the other side. The crossing over involved getting WET FEET, though there was NO NOTICE of  this in the Directions!!!  Never mind, it was a lovely warm day and ultimately was not a problem. The hares were, of course, duly punished in the circle.

 The hares provided two beer/cava stops and planned a shot stop which, to shorten this long run, was ultimately held back at the circle. For those of us who did the final, macho trail … (read Ball Breaker) across steep ploughed fields, this was extemely welcome!

 The circle followd with the hares being serially punished … as they justly deserved.

 Then it was inside the home of Nikki for a most delightful on on. Many thanks to Nikki for allowing us into her home and working so hard to produce the wonderful meal that she did.

Overall it was a most enjoyable day!
