Run - 1826 - 23rd October 2022 Peaky Blinders Run

Run 1826

Date: Sunday 23rd October 2022

Hares: Speed Bumps & Muzzel’im

Location: Fuengirola (near Aqua Park)

Hashers: 32

Visitors: Ten Peaky Blinders from Birmingham

Scribe: JerryCan

On leaving the park, our visiting hashers were immediately confused by a ‘split’, which the hares had not explained in the circle. Calls went up: Which way do we go? Are we supposed to go in both directions? Mijas hashers quickly explained the purpose of a ‘split’, which was just as well as there were lots more of them!

After crossing the river, the trail went up through the castle grounds, though two FRBs followed the arrow and almost missed out this loop – the hares apparently hadn’t expected cars to be parked in the car park! This scribe knew where the trail went, having followed it from the bus stop, so opted to take a leisurely short cut.

After crossing back over the river, things started to go wrong. The next check took ages to break, and hashers went off in different directions. The trail, when found, wound its way along the back streets parallel to the paseo, before hitting the front just before the port. And from there to the Beer Stop, relocated slightly because the hares couldn’t park their car. And then hashers appeared from all directions! Flakey and Sandra Bollox somehow managed to come ‘in’ from the ‘out’ trail, having already found the cava stop! Master Bates had to be given directions over the phone – obviously Google was having a bad day!

On leaving the Beer Stop, we stayed on trail for about 200 metres to the next check and on failing to find the trail, decided ‘sod it, we know where the cava stop is, we’ll just go straight there’. Judging by the number of hashers trudging through the centre of town, everybody had the same idea. Arriving at the ‘cava stop’, where was the cava? Apparently the hares were blocked in the port car park – didn’t realise they had to pay to get out!

Back at the circle, the run was scored at 8.74. Our visitors were then called in and each asked to name three Mijas hashers. The GM obviously hadn’t realised that there weren’t enough Mijas hashers to go round and after five minutes, Rub Her Turd was the last one standing (though he was actually sitting).

The Deputy RA gave Down Downs to the hares for poor markings and Muzzel’im ended up on the ice. Rick o’ Shea and STTI were also punished, though not sure what for. Several visiting RAs then gave DDs to the visitors. And Walky Talky demonstrated why she’s called Walky Talky!

The OnOn restaurant gave us good quality grub and great hospitality. We all shared a bottle of wine between two, though Speed Bumps shared hers with her imaginary friend. And when we’d finished, Stiff Fanny bullied the restaurant staff into giving us all pacheran. Entertainment (of sorts) was provided by Eggshell Blond and included Dr Z taking a DD on the house swing – maybe some lurid party nights here!

And OnOn Home!!
