Once again, since my scribing of two weeks ago,
(note to self … must be more authorititive when asking for scribes!)
the weather was poor, cold and oppressively dark.
Nonetheless, and in line with recent weeks, there was a really good turnout.
38 hashes turned upon such an unpromising day!
The run turned out to be very well marked and, indeed very well thought out. The hares had created a main (wimps) trail as well as a very, in fact incredibly, demanding Macho trail. The routes were the same up to the first beer stop after which they separated, up until the second cava, stop.
The macho trail was, first a steep uphill climb, followed by a very steep descent.
All well and good, not so unusual up to that point. Then came the THE HILL!
Quite the longest and steepest that I can remember encountering in all my years of hashing.
Whilst we all complained while climbing, reaching the top was a tremendously exhilarating experience. We all kind of knew we were alive!
(Well done Lilo Lill, the hare who had laid that section of the trail!)
Thereafter we had yet another long descent to the cava stop. It was on this section of the route that Muzzle Im with his dog, Maverick encountered a man out walking his six Alsation dogs.
And these dogs then did their best to wrench themselves free of his grasp and attack Maverick. The man barely had control of his animals and was being dragged along by them. The barking could be heard from kilometres around!
Fortunately, he managed to keep hold of them and Maverick survived.
The two groups joined together at the cava stop to enjoy, amonst other things,
cakes, pasaran (bought by Lilo Lill) extra cava (bought by Jerry Can) and all the ususal fare of crisps, beer and softies. It was then a short walk back to the circle.
The hares initially thought that it might be difficult to pass the remaining time until the restaurant opened, but in fact the circle turned out to be quite long with contributions from our Arch Dickon, From Behind as well as from Salmomella Rushdie and Eggshell Blond. So we entered the On On with perfect timing and were served almost immediately. This proved to be the good meal that we have come to expect from the Ranch del Bosco restaurant.

So we arrive at the cava stop where the co-hare, Claudia Shaver had been waiting for two hours! What a long run … indeed 13K in total.
So after this it was up, up and up... to eventually arrive back at the circle.
This followed in the usual style, though it was a little unusual in that the The Cardinal was not officiating, he had arrived late to collect the beer for next week's run) and so From Behind had the rare opportunity to run the RA's part of the circle.
The On On was close by at Juan Berrocal and after the wintry cold of the run, it was in a nice, warm room.
