Spanish Mother’s Day!What a glorious day for a trot up to the top of the mountains. So around 42 Hashers congregated in Alorin al torre to take part in what we expected to be a fantastic run. We weren’t disappointed, I can tell you.

We started going up the mountain through some wonderful forest engaging with checks and splits and check backs and eventually got to the beer stop where Stiffanny had a cornucopia of treats for us including tortilla cheese Tinto de verano beer you name it we had it. So after that we realized that somehow some Hashers even turned back on the whimps run!!! But nevertheless a few of us made it down the road to the on in, where we were to have the circle and a picnic afterwards.

In the circle the has was chastised for setting too many signs to the rock. Frilly Knickers was chastised for backseat driving when she was actually driving! Mummys Boy also got a beer for not switching the washing machine on and still hanging it out to dry! Salmonella Rushdi was also chastised for threatening to do a run three times but never actually setting one! Then a few really stupid Hashers did some Maurice dancing to celebrate May 1.

There were also some people in the circle that refused to take full part in the frivolities but we cannot mention any names as not to embarrass the people concerned.

I would never do that would I Roger The Cabin Boy?😜🤣

Anyway, well done Sir Flakey and kindergarten cock (new name) we all had great fun see you next week!

yours sincerely,

your loving Scribe

Mijas Hash House Harriers 1,800th Run.

“A Hares Prospective”.

Firstly, I must say I am really honoured to be writing this after One thousand and eight hundred runs of the Mijas Hash House Harriers, well done everybody that has been associated with this amazing club over the years.

I put my name down for this auspicious run event, and had a run location organised at Malaga Airport, but due to the crap weather we have experienced over the passed months the access road was just not passable, unless you were in a top of the range 4x4, so another venue was required, finding this trail on “Wikiloc” I took my better half “Stiffanny” for a reccee! Bloody hell this is a bit of a “Ball breaker” not to be discouraged, I thought I know what to do, I’ll ask “Kinder” our GM to assist me, he was full of enthusiasm, we arranged to do another reccee and organise the 1800th Run! After doing the reccee I knew things were not going well when he asked me if the Airport run location was still a possibility! I explained it really was not an option, and this would be a great run “Challenging” was his verdict! But I banged on what an amazing sense of achievement they will have once the epic 1,800th run was finished! “Kinder” then asked about “Beer Stop” Arrr yes! This was another slight obstacle I explained! We will have to carry the drinks in!! The blood was starting to drain from his face! Do you think this run will be a little difficult for the geriatric and less sprightly hashers? I had to agree with the GM on this point! What about we make a shorter run for these Hashers I suggested? OK, lets look at this option of making a shorter run for them! What about “Beer Stops”? we can make two beer stops I suggested! Great I thought we are getting there now! Only snag being we will have to carry these drinks in as well, it’s all starting to look very complicated, no it will be fine, I assured him. I then proceeded to after explain how it will all pan out with carrying in two lots of “Beer stops” setting two trails with 5 kilo of flour each, the poor GM was looking decidedly worried and befuddled!

We will meet at 8.30 on Sunday morning, that should be plenty of time! By 13.00hrs we had set the first “Beer stop” the “short run” but were only half way up the mountain on the main run, this is going to be close he wheezed, I cheered him up by mentioning we still had carry all the drinks and snacks for the second “Beer stop” yet! This was helping,

On the last section Kinder forged on alone to see that everybody had found the run start, I was left to finished setting the last two “Checks” I managed to get to the run start with a full 5 minutes to spare! Perfect timing.

The GM called the circle and I explained the best I could about the two runs, the Runners (fit people) were sent on their way first, and the slower walkers then left 10 minutes later, as the fist “Beer stop” was only for the walkers “Stiffanny” thankfully stepped in, even though she had kindly lent her running shoes to Golden Cascade, and so had to assist us with her slippers on, she departed just before the runners and limped her way up the trail to find the bag of drinks and goodies we had hidden in the undergrowth. Things were going well, all “Kinder” and myself had to do now was walk back up the trail with about 10 kilo of drinks and snacks for the runners! Half way up the trail I thought I was going to die! My lungs were bursting and sweating profusely! I checked on “Kinder” and he was in not looking too good either! We made to the drink stop exhausted but before the first runners. First in was “Queen of Trails” and “Salmonella Rushdie” they were a good 20 minutes ahead of the pack, next was “Rub her Turd” slightly pink in colour, once all runners had made it in we gathered for a rendition of the “My Garden shed” song in front of the Bird+Animal observation shed (The video should be on our web page now) well worth a look.

Back at the circle the reviews on the run were mixed as expected, Not even with a complimentary tee shirt can we win votes!!

Apparently, a lot of the walkers missed the “Beer stop” as quote “They were led astray” such a pity we would not have carried so many drinks if we knew they would miss it! And poor Stiffanny wouldn’t have had to carry them all back, at least she got some help from “Colonic” and “Knut” Yes the trails were close, but not a lot we could do about that. A visiting hasher from the “Riviera Hash” pulled me aside, and said you need to tell your hashers to follow the trail not people in front! Thank you, “Padre” I will.

the GM then entertained the pack with some traditional Morris dancing which was very invigorating.

Our very own RA “Cardinal Colonic Irrigation” was at his usual superb self, entertaining and cleansed the pack, good to see the ice back in the circle.

The runners, thought, as we did, it was a “challenging” trail, amazing views with wonderful rock formations, we are pleased that the majority of the 42 attending Hashers enjoyed the effort we had put in, and we look forward to somebody else doing the next BIG run!

The On on Pick nic was a great way end the day, eat, chat and celebrate our festive 1800th run.

On On Forever,

Sir Flakey.
