3pm and a cold winter's day kept the pack size down slightly but still a reasonably good turnout. The Hares, Rubber Turd and Sperm Maid spelled out the usual instructions. Blanka Wanka and From Behind took a photo of Kimbo standing in front of a NO DOGS sign, and we were off. Taking a good look around, there was only one route that this run was taking and that was UP!
True to form, the run did go up! Up some steps, then some more steps then some more steps again. Along the way, Golden Cascade produced a photo of a doll's face and she said that it looked a lot like me and that I had remarked that it was like me, only that the remark was made by not me but Rachel O' Shea, aka, Love Child!
We passed a few funny looking buildings on the trail, a chapel, a castle and a Buddhist temple or is it a Stupa?
We were so high up that I was getting low on oxygen at this stage. My run buddy, Beetroot kept me going until at last the beer stop came in to view. We barely had time to inhale a beer before the by now impatient pack set off again. At least it was downhill from here but not for long, as more hills appeared out of nowhere.
The circle was duly called by stand in GM, Kintergarten Cop. The Hares got theirs and the RA, RickOShea, appropriately togged out in his winter hash thobe and Ali Baba hat, took control of the circle. Jerrycan was punished for profering a €50 note for his run fee and hoping that in the absence of change, he would be absolved. No such luck unfortunately! Comes More Often turned up at the beer stop and proclaimed that she was doing the trail backwards. This prompted From Behind to offer assistance!
Since the on on restaurant was not due to open until 6pm, many down downs ensued, with visiting RA, Cardinal Colonic adding to the merriment.
