Run # 2034 30th August 2026
Run – 2034 – 30th August 2026
Hares: Sandra Bollocks, Pister Bradwee, Kaka Maps
Location: Up near Boma somewhere
Hashers: 13
Run score: 9.5
So there we were. Thirteen stalwart hashers, including three hares. How does it take three hares to set a not particularly long run with hardly any false trails? Twelve o’clock came
and went with no suggestion that we should circle up. Apparently we were waiting for Gang Bang, who would be here “soon”. Whatever that meant. Why not just get on with
it? I’m pretty sure she has heard the standard instructions before. Eventually Gang Bang deigned to grace us with her presence and Kindergarten circled us up. I volunteered to
scribe before Kaka Maps had a chance to volunteer me yet again. “On trail just keep going straight. If it turns it will be clearly marked”, the hares informed us. Except when it
wasn’t, as we soon found out. “No need for on one, on two etc. If you see a mark, you’re on trail”. Except when we weren’t, as we soon found out. After the run when I pointed
out this latter discrepancy, I was told that it was Kaka Maps who said that. Oh I see. Unless all three hares tell you something you should disregard it. Makes sense.
It was an excellent trail, almost entirely in the shade and with a number of stretches where you could run. Other parts were a bit rocky underfoot but that’s impossible to
avoid in this area. Some way in we came to a check back. That kept us busy for a bit as we tried umpteen ways it could have gone before going a hell of a way back and picked
up trail. A few splits that barely held us up and then, on the runners’ trail, that check. It was either straight, left or right. We tried all three to no avail. So let’s try them again and
go a bit further. I went straight and found a mark. Not on the path but nicely hidden over to the side. Hidden marks were a feature of the trail. But what is the point of hidden
marks? If they’re hidden you can’t see them, so they are not really marks. Another feature of today’s hash was running into Pinocchio coming back saying there are no more
marks. As there were often no obvious paths this meant us all wandering through the woods in all directions until someone found flour. Before long we arrived at the drink
stop. The walkers were already there and soon we were all there. Apart from Gang Bang. God knows what she was doing to cause her to arrive twenty minutes after everyone else.
A nice run through the woods took us back to the cars where Chronic Constipation conducted the circle in his usual inimitable way.
And the down downs go to:-
Kindergarten Cop. On their recent trip to France he managed not just one, but two speeding fines of €45 each.
Pister Bradwee. Despite instructing everyone not to turn left over a solid white line in order to get to the start, he turned left over a solid white line in order to get to the start.
There was a Scottish theme today so all those of the Scottish persuasion – our three hares,
Gang Bang and Pause Button.
Pause Button for non-stop talking.
Colonic for saying that Pause Button should be called Pause Button rather than his brother.
Returnees, which was most of the pack.
And one or two others that I don’t recall.
Then it was off to the Bradwee residence for an excellent on after, including a welcome dip in the pool. Later we were sitting around chatting – football, the weather, whatever –
when Bad Weasel, apropos of nothing, suddenly announced he’d always wanted to go to a nudist beach. And that there was one nearby with a bar. But you had to be stark bollock
naked to get a drink there. Niagara Fanny Falls had declined the offer to go with him and he didn’t fancy going by himself. What a bizarre announcement. Only to be surpassed by
Kindergarten Cop piping up that he would go with him, explaining that he was a frequenter of such places. So these two lovebirds have a date. Hopefully Bad Weasel will
still enjoy the experience when he finds out that it’s mainly blokes that hang out there and the women he might like to see in the buff are not the ones that hang out there.
Big thank you to the hares for a great hash.
