Hash Narrative:
It was blowing a gale when we left Fuengirola with hail and sleet hammering the cars window screen, there was actually a white layer of sleety/snow covering the grass in front of Club La Costa, something I have never seen before on the coast, but as we passed the “Marbella” road signs the weather changed to overcast with no rain or sleet!! All the extra taxes for living here maybe be worth it.
We arrived at the start location to find only the Hares car on site!! Maybe it will be a poor turn out today? But as we approached the 13.00hr mark, more hashing idiots turn up, good to see “Jerry Can” & the Fin`s “Pepper Grinder” & “Over and Done with” back to make an unbelievable turnout of 16 hashers, well done.
The GM was back after his 4 weeks jaunt in the UK, he duly got the proceedings underway after forgetting most of the protocol. The Hares had promised a virgin territory run, even thought we had two separate hashers stating they had started a run in the same place (“Stiffanny” & “Gang Bang”), Queen of Trails “Just Say When” then proceeded to explain about the run --- it had all the usual markings but, “whatever you do don’t take the “Macho” trail” she said!!! Hash photo was slightly delayed as Mummies boy” fumbled to get a face mask so not to disgruntle his friend and COVID-19 expert “Sir Lee Mavin”.
On On was called and the pack headed off into the Marbella campo, to all you up and coming hares it is recommended to put at least 10 to 12 checks on a run to keep the pack together, the “Queen of trails” managed this in the first 50 meters!!!! Needless to say, the start turned out to be a little mystifying.
Checks, back checks, split trails and we could still see the cars!! At the Gypsies house we all went wrong way and had to U turn, but once the trail was spotted, we were all On On Oning! I had the honour of being with “Colonic” & “Master bates” at this point, and after doing what was a brilliant B-C half way up the mountain, I had to listen to some abusive rambling about “Hash shit” luckily this was all forgotten by the end of the run.
On reaching the treacherous river crossing, and with a little help from “Sweet & Low” I managed to find an easier crossing point even managing to keep dry feet, unlike my trusty companion “Colonic” who looked at the raging water flow, with its protruding rocks on which he would have to nimbly navigate to make it safely across, “Fuck it” he retorted, and ploughed straight in, luckily his water proof boots worked perfectly and contained all the water inside till he got back to the circle. It was at this water crossing that the trail split into a “Machos” & “Wimps” unfortunately for “Golden cascade” Lucky the dog, and the wellie wearing Amiga “Gang Bang” (what she was thinking of turning up for a run in bright blue wellies?) were oblivious of the spit, and took the “Macho” trail along with the GM “Kinder GC” they were later to learnt that this add another hour to the trail!!!
At the beer stop we were treated to the usual crisps, fresh orange juice and beers!! After a long break there were no signs of our courageous “Macho” runner’s so we all pissed off on a leisurely stroll back to the cars, in all the trail was just 4 Km which is quite adequate in this weather!
The circle called (Once the GM returned) it was now starting to rain so the circle was cut short even “Colonic” spared us a command performance.
The Hares did very well considering the poor weather conditions and it was a fantastic area, looking forward to doing it again in Spring.
8.9/10 was a recorded.
Can’t wait for next week’s run in Estepona by our Swedish hares: “SARS” & “Super Scooper Poopper”
On On forever Sir Flakey.
