This was our third visit to Istan with Queen of Trails. The previous two were excellent, if physically demanding runs, so hopes were high of yet another great (and yes, long) trail.

Well we were not disappointed. It was a brilliant trail. A very steep descent down to the lake was followed by a really great swim for those who wished. Then an extraordinary narrow and somewhat dangerous trail, with a steep drop on the left side, to begin the uphill return. Where does she find these incredible trails!?

This, notionally the Wimps trail, was a steep slog, up, up and up to arrive eventually at an impromptu beer stop in the village.

There followed some lovely walking back through the irrigation channels in the dappled shade of the evening to bring us back to the startpoint.

The pack were somewhat strung out, so the circle began after what was for some, a lengthy and much needed recovery time in the shade at the picnic area. The hares, of course were iced, as were the usual culprits.

We them repared to the restaurant “Los Raices” that was a part of to the sports area.

The food was of excellent quality, but expensive and with small portions. A pay as you go policy was adopted which did result in a somewhat lengthy wait for both wine and food.
